running (again)

Someone needs to show me how to warm up the muscles below my knee at the back of my leg.. (someone first needs to tell me what they are called). They hurt when I start running.

Three days, three short runs. I guess it's getting slightly easier, I've run one more 'block' each time I go out. (just drove around last night's route in the car and it said 2.1 miles.. so only have to do that 7 times!)

Had the right tune in my head yesterday, so went at a much better pace. (Overture to Tannhauser) I felt it worked as it was slow and strong.

Not sleeping, I guess it doesn't help that I'm going out after dark to run with all the ugly people, but the lack of sleep doesn't seem to have affected me.

Will get some decent running shoes this weekend.

Training

1st run over and done with.

I changed into some swimming shorts and a T-shirt, did some stretching (possibly not the right sort) and managed fifteen minutes of mainly jogging.

I didn't enjoy it.

Now it's over I feel rather relaxed and rather alert (this I enjoy); and I have a little taste of sick and acid in my mouth (this I don't).

Next thing I have to do is buy some decent running shoes.

Update: It also messes with your sleep pattern. I had five hours sleep last night and spent most of the time being dragged around by Prince Charles to various official functions while being introduced as his new 'partner'. I think he was just trying to wind up the press, but I caused a bigger storm than he intended due to my refusal to sing 'God Save the Queen'.

Radio 4 theme

They announced the new early morning schedule on the radio today.

This means you will have to turn the radio on at 5:35 tomorrow morning to hear the last playing of the radio 4 theme tune.

I can't help thinking that this is very wrong. It's minor, but very, very wrong. I will work through my argument why and hope to write it down.

Coast and Castles

Rhys, J, Matt and me cycled a 200 mile route from Edinburgh to Newcastle over the bank holiday weekend.

Matt has the facts here

Some random stuff I may forget..

The heckles we could make out:

"Bunch of c***s!" (My personal favorite, especially as we got this within 1 minute of leave the house for the train station, before we'd even started the trip)
"Biker crew!"
"Keep peddling"
"Get off your bikes you poofs!"
"Biker mice from Mars"
"Bloody cyclists"
"If I rode my horse like you ride your bikes I'd deserve to be knocked over" (not strictly a heckle as we were stationary at the time and therefore could engage the heckler).

Melrose is on the Wrexham to Perth bus route.

The magic morning mixture of:
1 pint of water into which you mix:
1 Berocca
1 Dioralyte
2 Ibuprofen capsules (for your arse)

Dallas of course had a movie that froze in each panel.
