"Look what these bastards have done to Wales. They've taken our coal, our water, our steel. They buy our houses and they only live in them for a fortnight every 12 months. What have they given us? Absolutely nothing. We've been exploited, raped, controlled and punished by the English and that's who you are playing this afternoon." - Phil Bennett (before Wales v England encounter in 1977)

Was reminded of this web page I created to instruct people in work on how to pronounce my name... Was surprised to find that it was still hosted on one of the web servers in the office.

How to pronounce my name

1) The first thing to remember is that the G is hard and not soft. ie:

Garage

NOT General

2) Pronounce 'aint' as if it rhymes with 'pint'

3) Now put the stress on the first syllable GERaint, not GerAINT.

While we're on the subject.. I am from Wales.. I am not from England.. Calling me 'British' is acceptable, 'Welsh' is better, 'English' is just inaccurate (not that I have anything against England or the English people).

Listen to some attempts that I found in my answering machine: I should get around to grading these. Maybe you want to have a go yourself:.

Celebrity entries are appreciated.. I'd especially like to hear from ex-Mindporters.

Just phone my office number +1 760 795 2642, and begin your message "Hello Geraint, it's XXXXX here.....". There's not much chance of me picking up due to the time difference, so you won't have to suffer a conversation with me.

Mindport.

Roel (Very good)

Per (breaks the third rule, and almost forgets his own name. I think his talents lie in the pronouncing seemingly unpronounceable 40 character Indian names)

Shashank (needs to work on the 'pint' bit)

Kevin (pure cop out..!!)

The locals

The Leasing Agent (Not bad at all)

The Car Dealer

The family

Dad (abbreviated version, not much effort put into this one)

Sister (you'd never tell she was a teacher with this voice!)

Someone else

With authentic Welsh accent

Back in Cardiff after a month in the US. Took a quick overnight trip to Amsterdam while on the way home:
An early breakfast after a very late, and very wet, night out: [A], [B]
